The Children & Families Ministry Team at Silver Creek United Methodist Church deeply cares about forming your child in faith. We seek to offer children of all ages opportunities to grow in grace and faith through spiriutal formation, as well as information.

We achieve this by alternating curriculum geared towards spiritual formation (The Way of the Child) with curriculum geared towards helping your children grow in informational knowledge (Live Big curriculum).

THE WAY OF THE CHILD: (October-June 2012 immediately following Children's Message in worship)
     * Takes seriously and joyfully children's capacities, deep needs, and spirits, supporting children as they grow in understanding themselves as spiritual beings.
     * Respects children's capacity for insight and their ability to do great things. 
     * Leads children into a deeper relatinship with God, providing opportunity and space for a relationship of growin spiritual intimacy through stationsthat specifically include ways to know God thorugh Jesus Christ.
     * Instills in children spiritual practices that will open wider the doors of their hearts to God.
     *Encourages children to respond to God in Awe, nourishing a spirit of gratitude and praise, leading to an abiding relationship with God.
     *Help children embrace all of life, teaching them how to intergrate their throughts, learnings and experiences in ways that lead to harmony and peace with themselves, God, and the world.
     *Provides an experience of vital community, in which children's yearnings, dreams, hurts, and questions are accepted, exlpored, and supported and where children can develop persepctive in relationship with God.
